July 4, 2012
Josh and I had an interesting 4th of July this year. It started out great with our families. We spent some time refinishing some garage sale finds for the nursery the night before and then spent the night at my mom's house. We spent the afternoon with Josh's family and planned to be there to see fireworks etc. I felt so hot and uncomfortable but I figured it was part of being 31 weeks pregnant in July. I told Josh that I wasn't feeling well and went to take a nap. I called him a few hours later crying in pain. I have never experienced this kind of pain in my life. We went to McKay-Dee Hospital and they sent us to the Labor and Delivery. They hooked me up to some monitors and couldn't seem to find the baby's heart beat. We love Modern Family on ABC and I couldn't help but think of Phil Dunphy's comment about when you are flying and there is turbulence you look to the flight attendant and their facial expression will tell you if you should be concerned... Well our nurse was our "flight attendant" and we were both TERRIFIED! Finally she was able to pick up baby Paityn's heart beat and make sure she was okay. The pain was causing me to vomit and start to have contractions so we spent most of the night in Labor and Delivery trying to manage the pain. Finally at 1:00AM they took us to a quiet room and there we stayed for the next 2 nights. I finally passed two kidney stones and was able to come home. I have to say that I love my OB/GYN more than I think is normal... When she came into my room Thursday morning to check on me I started crying cause I was so happy to see her and knew that she would make sure that I was well taken care of. If anyone is planning on having a baby soon I would highly recommend Dr. Margit Lister at Wasatch OB/GYN. I am praying that all works out and she is around to deliver this baby when it's time. This stay also made me super excited that I am having my baby at McKay-Dee because their Nurses and CNA's were absolutely WONDERFUL! I had to share this picture because it shows how freaking spoiled I am. Josh would not leave my side while I was there and sacrificed so much sleep to help make me more comfortable. I'm not sure how I got so lucky but I am super glad that he is my partner in parenting (and life)! :)
